Good health and nutrition are essential parts of children’s learning and development, and PBS SoCaL is committed to helping prepare kids for success in school and in life. To help kids and families make smart and healthy choices as they kick off the new school year, PBS KIDS Eat Smart for a Great Start offers resources from PBS KIDS and PBS PARENTS. Families can cook together with eating receipes, play hands-on games like grocery store BINGO or even connect online together using Sid’s Vegetable Pattern Game and Arthur’s Healthy Eating Game. Families can also access eating healthy tips and families recipes at Produce for Kids.
Don't forget to tune into PBS SoCaL for episodes that explore topics related to health, fitness and nutrition on-air throughout September. The healthy living themed episodes will come some your favorites and mine including THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT!, CURIOUS GEORGE, SID THE SCIENCE KID, SESAME STREET, and new series DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD and encourage kids to get moving and to learn about healthy eating. These episodes explore health and nutrition, demonstrating the importance of healthy choices, and modeling activities and behaviors to that will help kids eat smart and get off to a great start.
