Last weekend, PBS SoCaL and the Long Beach Cinematheque hosted a free screening of POV The Light In Her Eyes. The documentary is about a conservative Muslin preacher in Syria who challenges women in her community to live according to Islam. Local Los Angeles filmmakers Julia Meltzer and Laura Nix engaged the audience with a Q&A session after the film.

We want to extend a special thank you to the Long Beach Cinematheque for hosting the screening and also thank the filmmakers for taking the time to discuss their documentary. POV The Light In Her Eyes will be airing on Sunday, July 22 at 10:30 PM on PBS SoCaL and Friday, July 20 at 9:00 PM on PBS OC.
Watch the film and tell us what you think of Houda’s views on feminism in Syria.
