Sid Brings Science to the City

Sid the Science Kid invaded Pretend City last weekend and he brought lots of exciting science activities with him! Little scientists played the “Recycling Investigation” at the Beach, recorded their observations in the Art Studio, and stayed healthy with "Move It!" in the Health Center.  Sid had a great time meeting and exploring science with all of the Little Scientists in the City.

You can encourage explorations in science at home this summer using the interactive resources from Sid the Science Kid and PBS SoCaL. Start by incorporating science vocabulary into everyday conversations. Sid provides parents with an easy to use glossary for science words for preschoolers. Next encourage curiosity. Summer is the time to get outside, explore, and investigate. Anything can be an experiment and family outings can be the perfect opportunity to encourage questioning. If you are headed to the beach this summer, test out the Sid activity "Enough with the Seashells", a hands-on estimation game the whole family can participate in or learn with Sid about why we use sunblock. Keep exploring, scientists!
