What does it take to put a show on television? Being a public broadcast station for 40 years, PBS SoCaL knows a lot about being on TV. The PBS SoCaL studio offers a unique experience for youth interested in careers in television or production to see what happens behind the scenes at the nation’s third most watched PBS station!
We are opening our doors to offer kids and adults a look into the history of the station, the cutting edge things we are doing now, and what we have on the horizon here at PBS SoCaL. Learn about cameras, careers, and close ups in this 30 minute tour suitable for groups or individuals of all ages. Perfect for Cub Scout troops, school field trips or just the avid PBS SoCaL viewer.

One of the things that makes the studio tours such a success are the studio docents. And you can be a part of this amazing experience. We are launching our Studio Tour Guide Docent program for high school students looking to gain volunteer experience or learn about a television station. Volunteers will be able to gain leadership skills, insider’s knowledge about filming and production, as well as public speaking skills. The program not only helps the volunteers, it will also serve as a way for community members to enjoy the tours and learn more about our studio. PBS SoCaL studio tours provide an interactive learning experience for both the volunteer and the audience.
If you are interested in volunteering as a studio tour guide, check out the PBS SoCaL Volunteering webpage or email us at volunteer@pbssocal.org or if you are interested in attending a tour visit the Studio Tour page or email member@pbssocal.org to schedule your tour!
Studio Tours and the Docent Program are part of the PBS SoCaL Career Exploration/Workforce Development Program. Made possible by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.
