PBS SoCaL Mobile Labs in the Community

Posted by Alyssa Torrez

It's no secret that mobile technology is changing the way we live, work and learn! Here at PBS SoCaL Education we are joining in the mobile revolution.

As part of our Ready to Learn Initiative PBS SoCaL will be distributing 32 iPads to five community partners. Think Together, Boys and Girls Club of Tustin, KidWorks, Carecen and PACE Preschools will each receive iPads with rechargeable portable cases to create their own Mobile Lab. The Mobile Lab will be an added support for these organizations in their efforts to facilitate early education and mentoring of students through technology. PBS SoCaL Education will also support these organizations with outreach activities such as Mobile Lab trainings, technology literacy workshops, apps, resources and a Mobile Lab liaison to help them navigate virtual learning and assist them with any troubleshooting.

The PBS SoCaL Education Community Mobile Lab's will be a tool for accessible and inclusive learning, an opportunity for these communities, children and parents to have access to technology and a chance to help their kids reach their educational goal. In total, PBS SoCaL committed over $22,000 to bring this technology and support to the local community.
