COSTA MESA, Calif.(April 15, 2014) – Iconic music legend, Peter Asher, along with the GRAMMY Museum will be honored at PBS SoCaL’s 2014 Gala. The evening will be hosted by Antiques Roadshow's Mark L. Walberg to celebrate Southern California’s Largest Stage for the Arts, PBS SoCaL, and honor leaders from the Arts and Entertainment industry.

Peter Asher will be honored for being an early and ongoing force in popular music.  He is the Founder of the popular British Invasion duo Peter and Gordon. Asher became the first head of The Beatle’s own Apple Records where he signed a young James Taylor. He has also been involved in the careers and music of Linda Ronstadt, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, Cher, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, JD Souther, 10,000 Maniacs and many others including Sarah Brightman. Asher is the recipient of three Grammy Awards, including two as Producer of the Year.

The GRAMMY Museum will be honored for its dedication to help students use music as a gateway to learning and as a way to inspire and cultivate creativity and critical thinking. The museum is located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles and debuted in 2008. It is known as an exciting and interactive celebration of the power of all forms of music; the creative process; the art and technology of the recording process; and the history of the GRAMMY Awards.

“It’s a privilege to honor two great leaders in the Arts Industry, one individual and one institution” said Mel Rogers, PBS SoCaL President and CEO. “We believe both honorees carry the same values as PBS SoCaL and strive to support creative expression.”

The event will take place on May 17th at the OC Fair & Event Center - Hangar Building in Costa Mesa, CA. The theme for this year’s gala is “Puttin’ on the Glitz” where guest will enjoy an evening of Old Hollywood Glamour.  Festivities will include a craft cocktail reception, an elegant dinner, cigars and cognac, and live entertainment compliments of JT & Friends. PBS SoCaL’s 2013 Community Champions will also be recognized for their outstanding work in the community.
