PBS SOCAL TO KEEP KIDS LEARNING ALL SUMMER LONG WITH A NEW KIDS SCHEDULE
PBS SoCaL offers free, educational resources
to prevent learning loss this summer
COSTA MESA, CA (June 2, 2014) – This summer PBS SoCaL is providing free PBS KIDS resources on-air, online, and in our community to help bridge the summer learning gap. Starting June 2nd, PBS SoCaL will feature a new summer schedule, and offer a variety of digital resources and community activities to keep families learning and exploring all summer long.
“Research shows that parents are looking to media resources to help their kids learn key skills for school readiness during the summer months.” said Jamie Myers, PBS SoCaL VP of Education. “Early education is a critical issue in Southern California and PBS SoCaL is dedicated to helping parents access free resources and activities to combat the summer break.”
To fight the summer slump, PBS KIDS will be helping kids stay sharp with DOUBLE YOUR FUN programming beginning Monday, June 2nd on PBS SoCaL. The schedule will feature double plays of many of kids’ favorite shows including Curious George, Wild Kratts, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood and others.

PBS SoCaL is also partnering with the Children’s Museum at La Habra to provide children and families with fun, engaging, and educational activities. The event will take place on June 28th from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and include story time, literacy resources, special characters and mobile games from the PBS SoCaL Mobile Lab.
Along with local events and programs, PBS SoCaL, in partnership with PBS KIDS, is also providing additional information through digital resources. Educational activities, local event information, and online resources are available at www.pbssocal.org/summer for parents to help students continue to learn over the summer.
