It shouldn’t be too taxing to take in a few locally originated and produced programs in April, presented by PBS SoCaL!

PBS SoCaL is pleased to be the presenting station for the Latino Public Broadcasting signature arts and culture series “VOCES”, the only national television series on PBS devoted to exploring and celebrating the rich diversity of the Latino cultural experience. April 17 at 10pm is the premiere of the documentary “Children of Giant”, April 24 at 10pm features “Now En Español”, and May 1 at 10pm is the debut of “El Poeta”. As part of our Autism Awareness Month programming, PBS SoCaL will present an encore performance of “Through the Heart of Tango”, in which four young men with special needs from Los Angeles, three with Autism, one with Down Syndrome, take a journey through dance and discover a whole new world of friendship and connection through the heart of tango. This program airs on PBS SoCaL plus April 19 at 7pm.

April is also Earth Month, and building upon that theme we bring you “Power Houses: the Competition”, a documentary that focuses on collegiate teams from around the world and close to home, competing in the Solar Decathlon 2013 which challenges teams to design, build and operate solar-powered homes. This program airs on PBS SoCaL plus April 4 at 6pm.

Anticipate May flowers… and more excellent programs next month. Stay tuned!
