This week, PBS SoCaL visited the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center in Long Beach and YMCA Rio Vista Preschool in Huntington Park with the Cat in the Hat to celebrate the new CAT IN THE HAT-A-THON airing on March 2, 2012 for Dr. Seuss’ 108th birthday!

The events included a morning story time with the preschool children, where Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe read the classic children’s book The Cat in the Hat and promoted early childhood reading. Other special guest readers included Huntington Park Vice Mayor Andy Molina.

Kids at the preschools were treated with Cat in the Hat goodies, including a book to take home with them. PBS SoCaL gave out nearly 100 books to preschoolers at the two schools. We love reading!
