Visiting a Local Library

Visiting a local library is a great way to expose your child to books on different topics and expand their reading horizons. Children can discover a classic or find a new favorite. But there are also other benefits to visiting your local library. PBS Parents gives tips for taking your child to a library and ways that the child can learn and grow, outside of reading.

Libraries are great community resource that provides many services outside of checking out books. Use the Library Finder to find your local library and see what exciting things they are doing to encourage literacy and community.

Use the PBS Parents Bookfinder to search for books before you head to the Library. Search by age range, theme or book type to find a new favorite for you and your child.

PBS SoCaL Education is working with local Southern California libraries to bring resources to kids and families, from free books to take home to parent workshops. Discover the wealth of information available to you and your family, visit your local libraries today!
