TEAM OF LA LEADERS TO HELP GUIDE THE FUTURE OF PBS SOCAL
COSTA MESA, Calif. (June 6, 2013) – PBS SoCaL, PBS for greater Los Angeles and home to Big Bird, Downton Abbey, and Antiques Roadshow, is adding six prominent Angelinos to its Board of Trustees. The incoming group includes esteemed business leaders, an academy award winning filmmaker, and a legendary long-time educator.
"This is the first full slate of new members to be added to the PBS SoCaL Trustees from Los Angeles. We are excited about this group in particular,” said Mel Rogers, PBS SoCaL President and CEO. "As we continue to work toward a noteworthy physical space in LA, each new Trustee has the ability to help PBS SoCaL better integrate the spirit of this great city into everything we do.”
Adding to the current team of business and community leaders from Southern California, the following board members were approved by the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees on March 20, 2013:
Don Hahn is the owner of his own film production company: Stone Circle Pictures, and an American film producer who has produced some of the most successful animated films of the past 20 years and is currently the Executive Producer of the Disneynature films.
David K. Lee, Chair for the Corporate Practice Group, Real Estate Practice Group and Government Regulatory Group at the law firm of Lee & Kaufman, LLP, in Los Angeles, California.
James M. Rosser, distinguished for his commitment to diversity and excellence, has been serving as the sixth president of California State University, Los Angeles for more than three decades.
Carol E. Schatz is the first woman to serve as President and CEO of the Central City Association (CCA) of Los Angeles and currently serves as President and CEO of the Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID), a coalition of 450 property owners in the core of Downtown Los Angeles.
Marc I. Stern is Chairman of The TCW Group, Inc. and also serves as Chairman of the LA Opera Board of Directors
Joseph "Pep" Valdes is the Vice President and Director of New Business Development at Parking Company of America Management (PCAM), one of the largest privately owned minority parking companies in America.
For the past year, the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees has been lead by co-chairs JoEllen Chatham, Director of Public Affairs for Southern California Edison, and S. Paul Musco, Founder and Chairman of the Board for Gemini Industries, Inc.
