PBS SOCAL REBRANDS DIGITAL CHANNEL
COSTA MESA, Calif. (August 29, 2013) – PBS SoCaL, PBS for greater Los Angeles, has rebranded its secondary digital channel as PBS SoCaL Plus beginning September 1, 2013.
Formerly PBS OC, PBS SoCaL Plus (channel 50.2 over-the-air), now offers more options to viewers by encoring iconic PBS shows alongside the best local independent films, public affairs, and art specials. The purpose of PBS SoCaL Plus is to provide quality local content while airing unique series including: themed nights, how-to programming, and music specials. The channel will also broadcast local content including Orange County and Los Angeles oriented programs.
PBS SoCaL is the parent to a family of channels dedicated to interactively educating, entertaining and enlightening viewers throughout the greater Los Angeles region on all media platforms. PBS SoCaL HD, PBS SoCaL Plus, PBS SoCaL World, and pbssocal.org offer the greater Los Angeles area many ways to explore new worlds and expand the minds of children.
PBS SoCaL’s primary channel, PBS SoCaL HD (channel 50/50.1 over-the-air), will continue to premiere the best in trusted PBS programs and top-rated educational programming. PBS SoCaL World (channel 50.4 over-the-air) is PBS SoCaL‘s secondary digital channel and is one of the premiere public television outlets for non-fiction, science, news, current affairs, and documentaries.
On August 1, PBS SoCaL also launched the new pbssocal.org website which supports a new sustained giving campaign. Pbssocal.org is dedicated to connecting the community to the information and resources they seek through program highlights, event updates, interactive blogs, and on-demand programming.
