The Passions and Politics of Ed Edelman:
An Untold Story of Leadership

"The Passions and Politics of Ed Edelman" is just the sort of film to inspire a new generation to public service, and help strip away some of our own time's cynicism about politics and the possibility of good government.
-Janet Fitch, Author, "White Oleander", "Paint it Black."

"The film is smart, inspiring and warm… [it] just makes you want to get up and do something, help someone and change things."
–Bill Parent, Director of the Center for Civil Society, UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.

The Passions and Politics of Ed Edelman: An Untold Story of Leadership, narrated by Tom Brokaw, is the inspirational story of the life and career of Edmund D. Edelman, a political visionary whose courage and humanity transformed the fabric of life in Southern California. Hailed as a leader who bridged political divides and transcended ideological differences, Edelman provides a hopeful alternative to the current politics of polarization and stalemate.

Through rich archival footage and interviews with luminaries such as Michael Dukakis, Frank Gehry, Peter Sellars and historian, Kevin Starr, the film provides a unique lens for viewing the political and community life of one of America's great cities – Los Angeles -- from the sixties to the present day. The film is produced by Ed’s wife, Mari Edelman.
