PBS KIDS Writers Contest

What’s better than reading a great story?

Writing one! PBS SoCal is looking for your original stories and illustrations.

Enter your story or poem to win cool prizes and have your story published online.

The contest is free and open to children in grades K-3 and each entry must be an original piece – written and illustrated by the entrant.

First, second, and third place winners from each grade are invited to a special event to receive their award and present their stories to an audience. Every child who submits an original piece will receive a Certificate of Appreciation for their participation.

1st Place

1st place winners: $300 college scholarship, 3-month subscription to MyBookBox, writing journal and PBS KIDS goodies.

2nd Place

2nd place winners: Amazon Fire Tablet, Barnes & Noble gift card, books, writing journal and PBS KIDS goodies.

3rd Place

3rd place winner: PBS KIDS Playtime Pad, books, & writing journal.

Entry Forms and Rules

All entries must be postmarked by May 4, 2018 and must include an official PBS SoCal entry form signed by the child’s parent, guardian or teacher. Be sure to read through the contest rules.
