In 2012, the California Community Foundation formed BLOOM (Building a Lifetime of Options and Opportunities for Men) in an effort to redirect the lives of young Black males in South L.A. The program appears to be working. Since then, nearly 85-% of the program’s participants have upheld the terms of their probation, and recidivism has been reduced. Bonnie Boswell speaks with BLOOM participants.
