SoCal Update

Why SoCal’s Vaccine Rollout is on Hold | Feb. 19

On the Feb. 19 episode of SoCal Update, the city of L.A. has closed its vaccination super-sites again because of supply issues. KPCC Community Engagement Reporter Carla Javier explains why.

The city was expecting around 60,000 doses this week. However, the planes carrying those doses haven’t been able to deliver them due to severe winter weather in other parts of the country, As a result, the city has to close its six large vaccination sites again and rescheduling more than 12,000 people who were supposed to get shots Friday, plus another 12,000 people originally scheduled to get their shots on Saturday. Most of those appointments were for folks who had gotten their first shot, but who still need their second one.
