Manchin won't seek reelection, creating new hurdle for Dems
Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia announced Thursday that he will seek reelection next year, raising the stakes in the Democrat’s battle to maintain power in the upper chamber. A longtime moderate, Manchin staved off GOP challenges to his seat in a deep red state but his commitment to the center had him often at odds with the party’s more progressive base.
