'Finding Your Roots' Screening and Discussion Panel

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025 PBS SoCal hosted a screening and panel event at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center to celebrate the newest season of "Finding Your Roots."

More than 250 guests attended the evening, which began with a VIP reception welcoming PBS SoCal major donors including philanthropist Edythe Broad, elected officials such as Layla Brisco from Supervisor Janice Hahn’s office, representatives from the California Wellness Foundation and other community leaders alongside PBS SoCal executives.

Following the screening, series host Dr. Henry Louis “Skip” Gates took the stage to share insights into his research process, his own family lineage and the discoveries he’s made throughout the show’s run. He was joined onstage by the show’s producer Sabin Streeter and genealogist CeCe Moore for a conversation about the importance of preserving history and storytelling.
