Funding will support BBC World News Programming on Public TV

BURBANK, CA?? February 1, 2013-KCETLink has been awarded a $200,000 program grant over two years from Newman's Own

Foundation, the independent foundation created by the late actor and

philanthropist, Paul Newman. The award to KCETLink reflects the ongoing

commitment of Newman's Own Foundation to support open dialogue and promote

civic engagement.

KCETLink will utilize the grant to support

the marketing and distribution of BBC World News to public television in

the United States.  Newman's Own

Foundation has been a key underwriter of BBC World News since KCETLink

began distributing the program in 2008.

"We are grateful to be

the recipient of this generous grant from Newman's Own Foundation to ensure

that KCET can continue to deliver such high-quality global news and perspectives

from the BBC to public television--the only place where viewers can access the

resources of the BBC for no cost," said Al Jerome, Chief Executive Officer of

KCETLink.

"Paul Newman believed

that the independent voice played a critical role in making our world a better

place," said Robert Forrester, President of Newman's Own Foundation.  "He was a strong supporter of public

broadcasting, and we are proud to maintain that support through our funding of

KCETLink."

Paul Newman established the Foundation in 2005, as a

means of continuing his pledge to donate to charity all net profits and

royalties from the sale of products from Newman's Own, Inc.  Since the food company's founding in 1982,

Newman and Newman's Own Foundation have donated more than $370 million to

thousands of charities worldwide.
