The Meaning of Juneteenth This Year in Particular
Today, America commemorates Juneteenth. On this day in 1865 Union soldiers rode into Galveston, Texas to tell the slaves the Civil War was over and they were free. This year, the day is particularly meaningful, as America protests racial injustice.
