“Uketamau” follows a “Yamabushi” master as he guides men and women in ascetic Shugyo training while on spiritual retreat. In austere surroundings, wearing simple white clothes, participants seek renewal through arduous nature walks, chanting and prayer at a Buddhist shrine in Northern Japan.
