Henry Louis Gates Jr. is the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor at Harvard University, as well as Director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research. In addition to being an historian, Dr. Gates is also an author, cultural critic, and filmmaker. His next documentary series, Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise will air on PBS stations this fall.
