Burbank city officials have filed a lawsuit to shut down the Western-themed saloon Tinhorn Flats. The city has already revoked the bar’s conditional use permit and L.A. County has pulled its health permit. Owners are making social media statements about their refusal to comply.

Elizabeth Ito takes us to new territories with "City of Ghosts,” a new documentary-animation series on Netflix. The series follows five children from different L.A. neighborhoods who befriend ghosts; and along the way encounter surprising, sometimes difficult histories of the city, such as gentrification and even the erasure of culture.
