From the Vault: Confirmation of Chief Justice John Roberts
Following the death of William Rehnquist 10 years ago, President George W. Bush nominated D.C. Circuit judge John Roberts to become the 17th chief justice of the United States. In his 10 years as chief, Roberts has overseen a Supreme Court that has expanded the role of money in politics, twice upheld President Obama's signature Affordable Care Act and expanded marriage access to same-sex couples.
