From the Vault: Iran Hostages Released
This week, Iran released 5 U.S. citizens from prison as part of a highly-choreographed prisoner swap. Some, including Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, had spent more than 500 days in jail. 35 years ago, 52 Americans were released from Iran after spending 444 days as hostages after the takeover of the U.S. embassy. The release came minutes after President Ronald Reagan was sworn in.
