Welcome to You

On Facebook I can rate the ads on my page with the following choices:
Why did you not like this ad?
1. Misleading
2. Offensive
3. Uninteresting
4. Irrelevant
5. Repetitve
6. Other

To get to make these choices, all you have to do is click the gray "x" next to the ad.

If you want to give brand marketers sleepless nights, all you have to do is choose anyone of those reasons. Each one is the sign of the Apocalypse to market researchers; "other" allows you to vent about your life, the product, anything you want to make the poor sod on the other end know about how miserable you are.

However.

They will know who it came from.

You posted it from your Facebook account. They will know your gender, location, age, education level, how many/few friends you have, what photos you post, what clubs you are a fan of...enough information to know why you hate their ad so much. Even why you paid attention to it, in the first place. There's no such thing as Anonymous ranting on Facebook.

Trolls, we know who you are.

Even if you aren't a Troll, but someone who just likes to click on the gray "x"s to let them know that you don't need a date, to diet, or grow hair, you are giving them information that they can then target you with a finely honed laser.

Welcome to "You"

Now you will be getting ads specifically targeted to those love handles, to that new book you will love because you read their last book, a new bowl for your dog, a wedding gift for your best friend, you will get a whole new world presented to just you.
Will you love your world? Or find it:

1. Misleading
2. Offensive
3. Uninteresting
4. Irrelevant
5. Repetitive
6. Other?
