Donald Trump’s winning strategy for 2020 lies largely in the hands of white evangelical voters. Meanwhile, the proportion of minority voters is growing—a trend that favors Democrats—but it will take several election cycles before that demographic change is reflected at the ballot box. Robert P. Jones is founder of the Public Religion Research Institute, and has studied these changes in depth.
