In January of 2011, KOCE-TV became the primary PBS station for the 16 million viewers in the greater Los Angeles area. To match its new role, KOCE-TV rebranded as PBS SoCaL.
KOCE has a long and rich history of service to Southern California. Founded in 1972, KOCEs previous role served as a pioneering PBS education station for more than 40 years, delivering the best of PBS programming, and based in Orange County to provide award-winning coverage of local issues and events. Under the name PBS SoCaL, we are now the home for all PBS services for the 7 counties in the Los Angeles region, including Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, the Inland Empire, South Coast and Orange County, and Los Angeles.
