A Night Out Against Crime
I wrote about Ruth Sandoval a while back in a post about neighborhood sustainability. Her family owned Pupusa booth at the Atwater Farmers' Market is just a weekend job, her day job is the property manager of WinnResidental. Ruth always looks amazing even when it's 90Ë? outside and she's flipping steaming hot pupusas to the long line at her booth, besides her family business, her first love is community building.
Ruth is a community organizer and her energy is boundless. This coming Tuesday Aug. 4th she has organized Give Neighborhood Crime and Drugs A Going Away Party, a successful theme from the year before. The evening benefits the residents who qualify for the low-income housing. There will be games, give-aways, and Mayor Bogaard will be there, as well as the local fire and police departments.
Thanks to Jana Stewart, Office of the Mayor & City Council for a note from Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard:
Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard expressed strong support for this annual
commitment against crime in our neighborhoods. He said, "Our commitment
is for secure neighborhoods and safe streets, and I hope that large
numbers of members of our community come out to rededicate themselves to
that goal. I look forward to seeing people in neighborhoods around the
City on the evening of Night Out Against Crime."
BILL BOGAARD
Mayor
Ruth is working towards making the Kings Village Community (non-profit) the best affordable housing in Pasadena, and towards a safe community for the families who live there.
