What are the Family Math Parent Workshops and who are they for?
They are a series of self-paced learning experiences designed to help parents and caregivers teach 2-5-year-old children basic math concepts playfully at home, giving them the math knowledge they need before starting kindergarten. There are five workshops in total: Sorting and Collecting, Number Sense and Counting, Patterns, Shapes and Spatial Sense.

So should my child do these or me?
These workshops are designed for you. Your child may be curious to watch as you learn — in fact, that helps your child see that you are curious and learning is important.

How long does each workshop take to complete?
Each workshop should take around 30 minutes to complete. The workshops are not timed and you can go at your own pace.

Can I start one and then go back to finish it later?
Yes. Ideally, you would complete each workshop from start to finish in one sitting. If you must stop in the middle of a workshop, you can come back to your most recent module when you log in again. However, you shouldn’t take all the workshops in one go. You can do one on one day and space out the others for whenever you can.

What is in each workshop?
Each workshop has a set of short articles, videos, images and interactive elements that help explain each math concept and give easy tips on how parents and caregivers can integrate them into their kids' daily lives through play.

How do I move between each page of the workshops?
It's easy! Just click or tap on the green “Next Module” button at the top of each workshop page and it will take you where you need to go.

Can I skip between the pages?
The modules are designed to be done in order. You must watch videos entirely before moving onto the next module. You can skip back to previous pages if desired.

Am I supposed to do the workshops in a specific order?
Not necessarily, since each workshop is designed so it can stand alone, but we do encourage you to do them in the following order:

  1. Sorting and Collecting
  2. Number Sense and Counting
  3. Patterns
  4. Shapes
  5. Spatial Sense

Doing them in this order ensures you get the most out of the experience.

Is completing the surveys (pre and post survey) mandatory?
Yes, completing them helps us see how helpful these workshops are.

Is this available in other languages?
Yes! These workshops are also available in Spanish. Click here to find them.
