YOLA National Festival: Power in Storytelling

Part II: YOLA National Symphony Chamber Music Program, YOLA National Overture Orchestra with Kalena Bovell
Conductor Kalena Bovell leads a performance by YOLA National Overture Orchestra featuring captivating works by Michael Abels, Ottorino Respighi, and Gabriela Lena Frank, as well as the world premiere of Atlácatl by LA Phil Composer Fellow Kevin Rodriguez. The evening begins with the debut of the YOLA National Symphony Chamber Music Program.
This free performance is part of YOLA National Festival: Power in Storytelling, a 14-day orchestra intensive that brings together young musicians from El Sistema-inspired programs nationwide, providing them with world-class music instruction and mentorship. The program, including travel, lodging, and all instruction, is entirely free for all participants.
This year's festival, titled Power in Storytelling, showcases the inaugural YOLA National Festival Chamber Music Programs! The YOLA National Symphony and Overture Chamber Music programs offer supplemental weeklong intensives dedicated to chamber music ensemble training for our highest-level orchestral musicians. Over the course of the intensive musicians receive specialized coaching from our esteemed chamber music faculty, as well as structured rehearsal and technique workshops to strengthen their performance skills. We are ecstatic to welcome these new ensembles to YOLA National Festival!
