Beth Cobert, Chief Executive Officer of Skillful

As CEO of Skillful, Beth Cobert employs her extensive experience in talent management and partnership development, as well as her acumen for harnessing the constructive potential of new technologies. Since her appointment as the organization's CEO in April 2017, Beth has drawn upon her skills as a seasoned and collaborative leader by working in partnership with others to evolve and expand the program and deliver results.

Elizabeth Cobbs, Co-Producer/Narrator
Cobbs is a historian, novelist, and documentary filmmaker. She is the author of eight books, the winner of four literary prizes, and has written for the New York Times, Washington Post, Jerusalem Post, China Daily Forum, Los Angeles Times, San Diego Union, and Reuters. Cobbs has served on the Historical Advisory Committee of the U.S. State Department and the jury for the Pulitzer Prize in History. She holds the Melbern Glasscock Chair in American History at Texas A&M and is a Senior Fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution.

Amy Peirce, PWC Partner
Amy Peirce is a Partner in PwC’s Advisory practice with over 20 years of experience applying both traditional and leading-edge data, analytic and AI capabilities to help client’s structure, solve and manage critical issues facing their organizations. She oversees PwC’s Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) Analytics practice focused on strategy consulting. Amy leads a team of analytic, ML, AI practitioners and industry experts who work with TMT executives to define customer initiatives that drive new growth, facilitate better customer engagement and support digital & customer-centric business transformation.

James Shelley, Director and Producer
James Shelley is the owner of Shell Studios, LLC, a San Diego based production company that specializes in award winning documentaries and corporate films. After retiring from a 35-year corporate career, Jim is now pursuing his lifelong passion. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, University of California San Diego’s video production program and is pursuing an MFA in Film at San Diego State University. His most recent film was American Umpire, which won “Best Documentary” at the 2016 GI Film Festival.

Joshua Winter, Director of Career Pathways at Microsoft

Joshua leads the Microsoft Philanthropies Career Pathways portfolio. His work is focused on ensuring that everyone can be successful in the digital economy. Central to this work is creating a skills-based labor market in which life-long learning is valued. Throughout his career, Joshua has been driven by the pursuit of equity. Joshua has spent his career working in strategy development, program implementation and management in the workforce development and education sectors.

Molly Wood, MODERATOR

Molly Wood (@mollywood) is the host and Senior Editor of Marketplace Tech, a national radio show that demystifies the business of technology. She also co-hosts the podcast Make Me Smart with Kai and Molly and is an Ideas contributor at WIRED. As a pioneer of podcasting, she has covered the tech industry on all the platforms. Prior to joining Marketplace, she was a tech columnist at The New York Times and an executive editor at CNET.
