Annette Bening Finds Herself Again in 'Hope Gap' at the Spring KCET Cinema Series on February 18

Q&A immediately following with star Annette Bening.

The film charts the life of Grace (Annette Bening), shocked to learn her husband (Bill Nighy) is leaving her for another after 29 years of marriage, and the ensuing emotional fallout the dissolution has on their only grown son (Josh O’Connor). Unraveled and feeling displaced in her small seaside town, Grace ultimately regains her footing and discovers a new, powerful voice. Directed by William Nicholson, the cast also includes Aiysha Hart, Ryan McKen, Steven Pacey and Nicholas Burns. It premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival.

Nicholson stated: “What struck me when we were putting together this film, crewing it up with people, was how many people said this rang a real bell with their own lives, because something had happened with their parents. The film looks at relationships, the burdens that relationships place on people and particularly the burdens that parents place on their children.”

The film screens at 7 p.m. at the ArcLight Cinemas in Sherman Oaks. Immediately following the screening, Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate a Q&A session. “Hope Gap” will be released in theaters by Roadside Attractions on March 6, 2020.

The spring season of the KCET Cinema Series runs from February 11 through March 31. The ArcLight Cinemas Sherman Oaks is located at 15301 Ventura Blvd. and nearby parking is available. To learn more about the series, call (201) 747-5238.
