KCET Cinema Series Continues on March 15 with "The Clan"
The KCET Cinema Series spring season at ArcLight Cinema Sherman Oaks continues on March 15 with "The Clan." Directed by Pablo Trapero, "The Clan" was Argentina's submission for "Foreign Language Film" in this year's Academy Awards. It also won Trapero the "Silver Lion Best Director Award" at the Venice INternational Film Festival.
Based on a true story of a series of kidnappings that took place in 1980s Argentina, "The Clan" mixes family drama and true crime in a way that may be familiar to movie-goers. "It's reminiscent of, and intentionally, probably, a lot of Scorsese, Tarantino, those kind of gritty crime movies," says Pete Hammond, host of The KCET Cinema Series. Director Pablo Trapero will be on hand for a Q/A/ session led by Hammond directly following the screening.
The KCET Cinema Series launched its spring season in late February with "Eye in the Sky." Previous screenings have also included "Hello, My Name Is Doris" and "The Bronze." The KCET Cinema Series is sponsored by E. Hofert Dailey Trust and gives audiences a chance to see critically-lauded films ahead of their theatrical release.
