About the nominee:

Jerry Herrera launched San Gabriel Junior Golf (SGJG) in January 2007 with the goal of turning neighborhood kids into college-bound golfers. Based in the San Gabriel Valley, SGJG is a non-profit organization that reaches out to youth from all ethnic backgrounds and provides both boys and girls (who comprise 65% of the current composition) with an opportunity to learn the game and develop lifelong skills that will help nurture self-esteem and confidence. With over 16,000 kids who have participated in the program, SGJG empowers youth to become productive members of society by giving them more opportunities for college as well as helping them develop leadership skills through athletic achievement as well as health and wellness.
