Who's Winning the L.A. County D.A. Race?

With about one-third of precincts reporting, Lacey had 55 percent of the vote to Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson's 45 percent, according to the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's office.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Jackie Lacey jumped to an early lead tonight in the race to become the county's top prosecutor.

With early ballots tabulated, Lacey had 56 percent of the vote and Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson had 43.9 percent, according to the Los Angeles Registrar Recorder/County Clerk's website.

If her lead holds, Lacey would be the first black and first female district attorney in the county.

Jackson has stressed his success as a prosecutor, while Lacey has emphasized her management skills as key to running the District Attorney's Office.

"I'm the only candidate who's been a prosecutor for 16 years and had 12

years of leadership experience," Lacey told City News Service. "While the

prosecutorial experience is very important.
