Northeast L.A. Riverfront

The NELA Riverfront District Vision and Economic Development Plan was the result of community engagement activities that were aimed at celebrating Northeast Los Angeles’ riverfront neighborhoods: Atwater Village, Cypress Park, Elysian Valley, Glassell Park and Lincoln Heights. From 2013 to 2014, the Plan documented ideas from the community with the goal of improving the NELA Riverfront area and giving recommendations to deliver those improvements to the L.A. River and its surrounding Northeast Los Angeles riverfront neighborhoods. Download the Vision Plan (93.6 MB)

I've been a motorcycle mechanic for almost thirty years now. I work for a shop and most of the time I ride my motorcycle to work.

A lot of people around Frogtown know me as "Space." I've been born here, raised here. Artist by nature, cyclist by hobby.

I work as the senior lead officer where I'm in charge of improving quality of life for the community here. I'm in charge of Cypress Park, Glassell Park, and part of the Mount Washington area.

They brought me from the hospital straight here. And I've been here forever. I'm 26 now and I've lived here my whole life.

It's nice being close to downtown but not quite so close and it's also nice being, somewhat close to Silver Lake or Echo Park, but it's a lot cheaper than those neighborhoods.

I've been living here since nineteen-ninety-six. It's quiet, a lot of people hop around.

I guess the best part of my life was growing up here; the community was little bit different than it is now. There were a lot of Cubans, a lot of Puerto Ricans.

I have just come back after 20-something years and I have seen all of the developments and how it's much friendlier than it was before.

I love dogs so much, I decided to work with dogs, so I became a groomer. When I first come in this store, I fell in love with all the decoration in the store.

There've been a lot of changes since we first came here. The lofts next door took about eight years to build, and now they're all filled up.

The park that we have right here on San Fernando is called L.A. River. It's great. They have two or three soccer fields, a basketball court, and playground.
