Melissa Arellano

A white woman with long, brown hair and bangs stands in front of a hedge, looking to her right

Melissa Arellano lives in Long Beach, California, with her partner, daughter, son and a bearded dragon. On weekends you can find them cycling around town, hiking, going to the library or venturing around Los Angeles! Melissa has worked with children all her life: as an older sibling, babysitter, camp counselor and preschool teacher. Her education is rooted in the arts. In 2014, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Art History and French from California State University, Long Beach. After completing her bachelor's, she facilitated art workshops for children in Los Angeles. She is passionate about raising awareness about the importance of arts, reading, and math education for early learners to help build foundational skills for a better future. Through her writing, she has helped several nonprofits across Los Angeles raise money to support crucial early learning opportunities for children in underserved communities. One day she hopes to open a children's bookstore where she can facilitate free art, math and reading workshops for children in Long Beach!
