Documentary Produced by WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Unveils Censorship and

Collusion Between the Press and Government Authorities

San Francisco, Calif. - Feb. 28, 2014 - Link TV, the national satellite television network and global

content provider, today announced the U.S. television and online premiere of MEDIASTAN,

a riveting documentary about the 2010 U.S. diplomatic cable leaks. The film

premieres on Link TV (via DirecTV 375 and DISH 9410) on Tuesday, March 4 at 11

p.m. ET/ 8 p.m. PT. Viewers can also watch the film online at linktv.org/mediastan.

Directed by Johannes

Wahlström and produced

by WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, MEDIASTAN follows an

undercover team of journalists as they drive across the central Asian Republics

of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and into

U.S.-occupied Afghanistan, interviewing editors to find local media outlets to

publish secret U.S. diplomatic cables.

Unearthing an international trail of censorship and

powerful media collusion, the eye-opening documentary stuns with candid footage

of New York Times editor Bill Keller boasting about the paper's daily

phone conversations with the U.S. government, his decision to conceal the

National Security Agency's (NSA) mass surveillance program and wisecracking

with publisher Arthur Sulzberger about Pres. Obama and WikiLeaks.  The film also uncovers awkward admissions by

Alan Rusbridger, editor of The Guardian, stating his paper censored U.S.

cables about government officials and western oil companies.

A journey from Afghanistan to Manhattan, MEDIASTAN

depicts the boundaries of freedom of speech, and boldly ventures into the minds

of those who shape our understanding of the world.
