'Moyers & Company' Returns to KCET in a new, half-hour format on Sundays, beginning Jan. 12 AT 5:30 p.m.
Burbank, Calif. - Jan. 7, 2014 - KCET,
the nation's largest independent public television station serving Southern and
Central California, welcomes the return of veteran journalist Bill Moyers'Moyers
& Company
in a new, half-hour weekly format on Sundays beginning Jan. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
With the motto "Occupy Democracy," Bill Moyers continues
his popular weekly broadcast Moyers & Company on public television
after announcing his intention to retire last year. With an outpouring of
support from fans to remain on air, Moyers withdrew his decision to retire and
opted instead to continue with a half-hour version that will provide the
"flexibility to offer a forum to strong and provocative voices."
The first episode features a conversation with famed
astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium at the
American Museum of Natural History in New York.
Tyson was a natural choice as Moyers' first guest, as he is currently
completing a 13-part reboot of Carl Sagan's classic public television series,Cosmos:
A Personal Voyage,
which has been seen around the world by more than 600 million people since its premiere in 1980. The new series,Cosmos: A
Spacetime Odyssey,
produced by Sagan's widow Ann Druyan and Family Guycreator Seth MacFarlane, will premiere on Fox and National Geographic in March.
Moyers & Company, distributed through American Public Television, engages guests on

Moyers, one of the most prolific public broadcasting
figures for more than 40 years, is known for such groundbreaking series asNOW

Edward R. Murrow, CBS Reports. His work has received more than 35 Emmys. He
presented was presented the Lifetime Emmy® Award in 2006 for "devoting his
lifetime to the exploration of the major issues and ideas of our time and our
country, and giving television viewers an informed perspective on political and
societal concerns."
