Huell joins retired Pacific Bell engineer Harrison Scott, who, with the help of U.S. Forest Service archaeologists, was largely responsible for landing the engineering marvel of the San Gabriel Mountans' Ridge Route, the first direct route between Los Angeles and Bakersfield, on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
