The Great Green Rush

In Ivanpah Valley, on the border of California and Nevada, the largest solar-thermal project in the world is under construction. However, in an effort to bring more renewable energy to California, one local species has been ignored: the endangered desert tortoise. The project has split local environmental groups and called into question the speed at which decisions are being made. Is the rush to go green not as green as one would think?

Next, as part of its "Extreme Green" series, "SoCal Connected" takes a look at a Camarillo resident who went from owning four homes to owning just 50 items total. A divorced father of two, Mike Roberts realized he was living a life of excess and set out to change that. He sold all of his homes and possessions and now rents a room for himself and his belongings. He rides a bike to work (at an organic farm), sleeps on a yoga mat, and poses a question for us all: how much do we really need?

Finally, satirist Brian Unger takes on potholes in another installment of "The Unger Report."
