This summer in Los Angeles, Spencer Finch transforms fleeting experiences of light, color, and the natural world into ethereal, poetic works. Guided by his “impossible desire to see oneself seeing,” Finch investigates memory, perception, and the subtle rhythms of daily life. Working across watercolor, photography, video, glass, electronics, and large-scale light installations, he often measures the exact luminosity of a place and moment, then reconstructs it through art, inviting viewers to inhabit the experience of light itself. Later this year, a large-scale, site-specific installation by the artist will be unveiled at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, IL.
