LA Phil principals Boris Allakhverdyan and Whitney Crockett join the Chamber Orchestra for one of Richard Strauss’s most beautiful and soulful late works, the “Duet-Concertino for Clarinet and Bassoon.”
Along with Strauss’ “Duet-Concertino,” the concert also includes “Zachor” (“Remembrance”) by Los Angeles-based composer David Lefkowitz (pictured above), a work which reveals an old Lithuanian Klezmer tune emerging from the distant past. Tchaikovsky’s lushly orchestrated “Serenade for Strings” rounds out the program.
Our casual pre-concert feature, “Liner notes,” offers conversation with the evening’s artists and insights into the music and composers. “Liner notes” begins at 7:10pm in the church and is free to all ticket holders.
