The Donn of Tiki screens this weekend as part of a roadshow theatrical tour at the Art Theatre of Long Beach. This a James Beard Award nominated documentary film about Donn Beach, also known as Don the Beachcomber, creator of the Tiki bar. But his story goes much deeper than that. He was an American maverick, constantly creating his own opportunities, reinventing himself many times over, and was well known for embellishing the details of his extraordinary life. Told with stop-motion animation and never before seen archival footage, this is a documentary unlike any other about cocktail and restaurant history, with an unreliable narrator at the center.

The film is being shown at the Art Theater in Long Beach plus a Q&A with directors Max Well + Alex Lamb, and Bamboo Club is hosting the after-party!
