'All Is True' Brings the Bard to the Winter KCET Cinema Series on November 27

Q&A immediately following with star/director Sir Kenneth Branagh.
“Men's evil manners live in brass; their virtues we write in water.” - Henry VIII by William Shakespeare
When the renowned Globe Theatre in London burns to the ground during a 1613 performance of William Shakespeare's play Henry VIII, the 49-year-old playwright, poet and actor returns to his home in Stratford-upon-Avon to face a troubled past and his disregarded family. The film takes its title from an alternate name for his play Henry VIII. It stars and is directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh, who at the age 23, became the youngest actor in the Royal Shakespeare Company to play the lead in Shakespeare's Henry V, also made into a film by Branagh in 1989. Co-stars include two KCET Cinema Series Lumière Award recipients: Dame Judi Dench as Shakespeare’s wife Anne Hathaway and Sir Ian McKellen as the Earl of Southampton.
“We have known and worked with Ken for 25 years,” Sony Classics said in a statement. “We feel this is a movie he was destined to make. He conjures up for us the depth and dramatic richness of a character about whom we have always been fascinated. What we have seen has confirmed our excitement to plan a qualifying run at the end of this year and to open the movie fully in the new year. We believe audiences will embrace the freshness of ‘All Is True.’”
The film screens at 7:00 p.m. at the ArcLight Cinemas in Sherman Oaks. Immediately following the screening, Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate a Q&A session with star/director Sir Kenneth Branagh.
The film will have a one-week awards qualifying run in New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 21, followed by an official film release in 2019.
Deadline.com is the presenting sponsor for the winter season of the KCET Cinema Series, which runs October 23 through December 11. The winter series is sold out and there will not be walk-up admissions available for the screenings.
