Opportunity's incredible story created an enthusiastic, intergenerational fan base: "My kid had a Lego Oppy that he built with his class," Amblin's producer Falvey says. "He knew more about the Opportunity rover than most adults. We recognized that this story was a real opportunity to speak a language for all generations."

Immediately following the screening, Deadline's chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET's Must See Movies, moderated a Q&A with director Ryan White, producer Jessica Hargraves, and the subjects of the film, NASA/JPL scientists Doug Ellison and Abigail Fraeman.

The long-running in-person film series returns in October to the historic Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, while the popular virtual series continues on Eventive, a technology platform designed specifically to enhance the online film viewing experience.
