Suzanne Muchnic
Suzanne Muchnic, an art writer for the Los Angeles Times for more than three decades and a contributor to many art publications, has chronicled the growth of Los Angeles’ art scene since the 1970s and traveled widely to report on cultural events and issues.
She is also the author of books on Southern California art history. "Odd Man In: Norton Simon and the Pursuit of Culture," published in 1998 and soon to be updated, won the 2002 Donald Pflueger Local History Award of the Historical Society of Southern California. "Helen Lundeberg: Poetry Space Silence" (2014) illuminates the life and work of an extraordinary Los Angeles painter. "LACMA So Far: Portrait of a Museum in the Making" (2015) tracks the evolution of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from the weakest branch of a multipurpose institution in Exposition Park to a singular powerhouse on Wilshire Boulevard, the largest general art museum in the western United States.
A graduate of Scripps College and Claremont Graduate University, Suzanne is a Distinguished Alumna laureate of both institutions and currently serves on Scripps College’s board of trustees.
