BURBANK, CA - August 27, 2013 - Few great actors have been so unfairly

represented in the public image as Richard Burton. Drunk, a wastrel,

uncontrollable, unprofessional, besotted with glamour and wealth -- these are

just a few of the epithets describing the popular star of stage and screen. KCET

sheds light on the late actor with a special feature of In from the Cold? A Portrait of Richard Burton, airing Sunday, September 1 at 9 p.m.

This two-hour documentary, made at his

widow Sally Hay's request, profiles the life of and works of Burton. The Welsh

actor, who enjoyed success on both stage and screen, has played roles in

numerous major motion picture productions, including: The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and Cleopatra, co-starring his second wife,

actress Elizabeth Taylor. Nominated several times for an Academy Award and

winner of best actor for BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Tony Awards, Burton was at

one time the highest-paid actor in Hollywood.

Featuring exclusive interviews with

family members, friends and co-workers and clips from his films, In from the Cold celebrates the life of

an extraordinary man whose public image may have been seen as much different.
