Los Angeles, Calif. – Oct. 6, 2022 – KCET, showcasing the best of PBS while being the leading source for arts, culture and news in Southern California, announced today the fall 2022 KCET Cinema Series schedule spotlighting the best of Hollywood, independent and festival films prior to their public theatrical or streaming release dates. Taking place at American Cinematheque’s historic Aero Theatre (1328 Montana Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90403) in Santa Monica starting October 11, this season’s lineup of films and special guests set to screen over the next few months include appearances by Hollywood’s top talent in films expected to contend this Awards season. Kicking off with “The Good Nurse,” additional films in the lineup include Guillermo del Toro’s “Pinocchio,” Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” and more. KCET MUST SEE MOVIES Host and Deadline’s Awards Columnist and Chief Film Critic Pete Hammond will host the film series, and in-person conversations with filmmakers and top talent. Hammond will use his expert knowledge to take attendees behind the scenes of this year’s biggest movies and give them intimate access with some of Hollywood’s top stars and award-winning filmmakers.

Upcoming in-person screenings announced for the fall 2022 KCET Cinema Series at the Aero Theatre are as follows (*Q&A guests are subject to change):
Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.: “The Good Nurse” (Netflix)
Based on the true story, this crime thriller details the pursuit and capture of Charles Cullen, the man who murdered as many as 300 patients over his 16-year career as a nurse in upstate New York. The film follows, Amy (Jessica Chastain) a nurse in a hospital intensive care unit, who develops a strong and devoted friendship with a new male nurse named Charlie (Eddie Redmayne). As a series of mysterious patient deaths sets off an investigation pointing to Charlie as the prime suspect, Amy risks everything to uncover the truth. Q&A immediately following with director Tobias Lindholm, co-stars Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne and the real life nurse Jessica portrays in the film, Amy Loughren.
Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.: “Good Night Oppy” (Amazon Studios)
By award-winning filmmaker Ryan White, this documentary tells the remarkable true story of Opportunity, the Mars Exploration Rover. Affectionately dubbed “Oppy” by her creators and scientists at NASA, she was sent to Mars for a 90-day mission but ultimately explored the red planet for nearly 15 years. Q&A immediately following with director/co-writer Ryan White, producer Jessica Hargraves and scientists involved with the film. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.: “Armageddon Time” (Focus Features) A deeply personal coming-of-age story about the strength of family, the complexity of friendship and the generational pursuit of the American Dream. By acclaimed filmmaker James Gray, the film features an all-star cast that includes Academy Award-winners® Anthony Hopkins, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain as well as Emmy-winner Jeremy Strong. Q&A immediately following with director James Gray.
Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.: “The Fabelmans” (Universal Pictures)
Growing up in post-World War II era Arizona, from age seven to eighteen, a youth named Sammy Fabelman (Gabriel LaBelle) discovers a shattering family secret and explores how the power of films can help him see the truth. A semi-autobiographical film by Steven Spielberg, it also features Michelle Williams, Paul Dano and Seth Rogen. Q&A immediately following with actor Gabriel LaBelle.

Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.: “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio”
(Netflix) In an Italian village, a wooden puppet called Pinocchio is brought to life by the Blue Fairy and seeks the life of adventure while striving to be a real boy. This darker version of the classic tale is directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson. With music by Alexandre Desplat, the animated musical drama features the voices of Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor, Ron Perlman, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz and John Turturro and more. Q&A immediately following with two-time Oscar® winning director/writer Guillermo del Toro.

Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.: “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” (Netflix)
Tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites his friends for a getaway on his private Greek island. When someone turns up dead, Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is put on the case. Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the film’s ensemble cast also includes Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista.
